I started each day by brushing phosphoric acid on the more heavily rusted areas. If you have any questions, just ask.ĭown to the frame. According to him these Briggs and Stratton Vanguards were assembled in Japan for the Japanese market and were of very high quality. It was sold locally in 1995 so I headed across town and talked to the man who sold it new but he didn't have too much information on it. It must have been a relatively spendy rig when new. Rinse and repeat.Ģnd pic shows the rather clobby looking repair under jack shaft. There is no valve noise, no piston slap, no rod knock and no smoke. The engine idled for 30 minutes without overheating, smoking or rattling. The test ride shocked me.and almost killed me. A $22 Chinese carb, $7 rope starter, quart of oil and plug was all that it needed.

Streaker go kart cracked#
This wobble eventually cracked the frame under the bearing pillow block. This wobble was masked by the belt tension. The bearing nearest the drive had gone south and allowed the shaft to wobble. Midway into the resto I learned that the jack shaft was shot. The gas peddle had been cut/broke and re-welded.poorly.

One brake lever (on the caliper) was literally broken. The rear axle bearings were questionable. The battery, key and seat were also long gone.

The carb, elbow and air box were missing. The rear tires had multiple plugs and didn't hold air. I asked about it one day and it became mine on the spot. He had tried to give it away but the guy never came for it. "The guy who gave it to me told me that all he thought it needed was a carb". We just goofed around in small engine class". According to my friend "I never touched it. It had been given to him by one of his friends to repair in small engine class in High School. Since you guys have kindly answered a few of my dumb questions, I thought I'd post up a few pics of my progress. The issue I'm finding is that with the Dream of speed i may be sacrificing a lighting coil/regeneration of the battery and maybe even pull start. This is my first cart. I don't know what make or tread type i need for 50/50 terrain (half on gravel/asphalt and the other half in grass/dirt/mud) I need a disk most likely since stage 2 is going to send me flyingįourth, Light it up! I wanna add some cheap lights to make night karting possible (or at the very least for show on a cloudy day)įifth is a lil sticky, need some new rubber. No literally the drum brakes on this thing are 30% stopping power 30% fade and 40% lock. Second, my back is giving out from pull starting this thing like your regular Ronnie Coleman.
Streaker go kart series#
But i want to bump this sucker up to a stage 2 Kit with a 40 series CVT.
Streaker go kart mods#
I have been doing my research and found a laundry list of mods i want to do to this little kart to make it the show stopper of the local Cars n Coffee (or Caffeine and Octane i don't judge).įirst some more oomph, now I know 25 miles an hour with your ass an inch off the ground feels like Senna ripping it through Monaco. The Hemi Predator 212 ran fine from the start but as it happens to us all we cook the clutch after sending it for a couple of hours. Alright gurus of this subreddit I have some plans for this streaker D710 i found on CL a couple of weeks ago.
